How to sell grain to the Food Contract Corporation: forwards, direct purchase, 2026 prices, documents

Three ways to work with the Food Contract Corporation: spring forward financing, direct purchase of the new crop, and its purchase prices as a market benchmark.

What the Food Contract Corporation is

Food Contract Corporation NC JSC is the national grain operator. A farmer can work with it in three ways: receive a spring advance for the future harvest (a forward), sell grain to it directly after harvest, or use its purchase prices as a benchmark when selling to traders.

Forward purchase (spring financing)

The corporation pays an advance before sowing, and the farmer delivers grain in autumn. Terms for 2026 (Ministry of Agriculture announcement of 22.12.2025):

  • total funding of aboutKZT 40 billion; applications opened on 19 December 2025;
  • advance incl. VAT: soft and durum wheat —KZT 60,000/t, barley and corn — KZT 50,000/t, sunflower, oil flax and rapeseed — KZT 100,000/t;
  • delivery deadline: wheat, barley and corn — by 2 November 2026 inclusive, oilseeds — by 16 November 2026;
  • delivery basis —EXW(ex-warehouse);
  • after delivery, a top-up payment is possible depending on market prices; the final purchase price is announced in autumn;
  • applications are reviewed by coordination councils under the regional akimats.

Collateral and guarantee requirements are not stated in the official announcement. Check them with the regional branch of the Food Contract Corporation before applying.

Direct purchase of the harvest

Direct purchase of the 2025 harvest began on 19 December 2025 (according to the Ministry of Agriculture). Its terms:

  • no more than3,000 tper agricultural producer across all crops;
  • only farms with no current or extended obligations under financing instruments of the national operator and its subsidiaries may take part;
  • applications are accepted by the corporation's regional branches.

2026 prices

On 30 September 2026 the government announced the purchase price for Class 3 wheat from the 2026 harvest:KZT 92–115 thousand/t; the exact price depends on quality parameters. Prices for other classes and crops were not given in that announcement. For comparison, in 2025 the Food Contract Corporation paid KZT 78–80 thousand/t for Class 4, KZT 70 thousand/t for Class 5 and KZT 78 thousand/t for Class 2 barley (prices incl. VAT). The corporation's prices serve as a benchmark for the market.

Required documents

  • the statistical report “On the harvest of agricultural crops from all lands” for the relevant year, certified by the competent authority;
  • usually also the farm's registration details, bank details and digital signature (EDS); check the exact list with the branch;
  • for a forward: an application and a decision of the akimat's coordination council;
  • ask the branch which grain elevators accept the grain and whether a grain receipt is required.

Tips

  • Compare the Food Contract Corporation's price with traders' offers on the same basis (EXW elevator).
  • Watch the announcements on fcc.kz and gov.kz: application windows are short.
  • If the harvest fails, notify the branch immediately. An unfulfilled forward disqualifies you from the corporation's programmes.
